Annual Return Crackdown by Companies House

Companies House have now started to take action over Annual Returns that are three months past their due date. The implications of this for any of you with limited companies or limited liability partnerships with late returns is that you risk your business company being struck off the register resulting in frozen bank accounts and assets and even prosecution action being taken against the directors or designated members at the Criminal Court for an unlimited penalty.

As a result of the above, if we complete your Annual Return it is imperative you return it to us with the correct filing fee as soon as possible in order for us to be able to file the document at Companies House. If the registered office for your business is at your own address and not ours, please make sure that you act on any reminders or warnings as soon as you get them.

If you have any questions, please email our new Companies House Specialist charlotte@a4gsolutions.co.uk

Pension Updates that could affect you

At the end of June the Treasury made major changes to the controversial new pension rules, originally designed to prevent high earners from making unusually large pension contributions before they lose their right to tax relief in 2011.

The changes include contributions will automatically be tax free up to a sum of £50,000 regardless of contribution history from the previous £20,000, annual contributions can now be considered which has been a major point of contention from  self-employed investors, who often make pension contributions only at the end of their financial year.

Finally high earners are defined as those earning £150,000 in the year the contribution is made.

These changes could mean that you can now boost your pension contributions. If you want a consultation regarding pensions talk to Nick Grey from our sister company A4G Wealth Management at nick@a4gwealthmanagement.co.uk

Our next morning seminar - Redundancy

While we are currently taking a break for the summer we are now able to offer our next run of morning seminars. The first that will take place is on if you need to cut down on your staffing overhead but don't know whether it's the right thing to do or how to do it?

This is a problem faced by many in the dark days of this recession. In order to answer the question, one will have to determine whether they have a redundancy situation. Once they have done so they will then have to work their way through the minefield of law and procedure that is required to dismiss for reasons of redundancy without any comeback.

This seminar which is run by Judge & Priestley will provide a useful guidance and the do's and don'ts of redundancy.

This seminar will take place on Thursday 10th September and will take place in our boardroom starting at 7.45 for 8am sharp with tea / coffee and bacon rolls provided with an aim to finish by 9am.

If interested please email Jenny@a4gsolutions.co.uk to book. You can find out about our other upcoming seminars by clicking here.
