Accidental Millionaires

Accidental millionaires book mockup

Malcolm Palmer spent years observing owner-managers, wondering what drove their success. Some were naturally gifted, but many were ordinary people who steadily built their businesses, often without realising how they achieved it. Accidental Millionaires explores the shared mindset of these successful business owners and sporting legends.

With contributions from two of Team GB’s greatest and most successful athletes, Steve Backley and Roger Black, Accidental Millionaires draws (often in a light-hearted way) on the experiences and sometimes overwhelming challenges business owners faced as the pandemic hit in 2020.

This book offers insights for all business owners, whether starting out, at a crossroads, or reflecting on past successes. It will challenge your thinking, address blind spots, and guide you toward your goals.

“You should read this book because by reading it and applying its content, you’ll make it as likely as possible that you’ll succeed in your chosen field.” Steve Backley, OBE

About Malcolm

Malcolm Palmer, born in Herne Bay, Kent initially pursued sports journalism but his aptitude for math led him to accountancy. He found the work fascinating, particularly understanding the dynamics of successful businesses. In 1995, he acquired a small, outdated accountancy practice in Kent, modernising it and building a thriving business, A4G. A4G prioritises team development, earning recognition as a top employer for school leavers.

The unprecedented challenges of the 2020 pandemic, coupled with 25 years of uninterrupted business growth inspired his first book, Accidental Millionaires. His second book, Making Your Business Less Dependent on You, released March 1, 2025, draws on his 30 years of experience as Managing Partner of A4G. It shares the strategies and advice that freed him from the day-to-day demands of running the business – a milestone he reached on the book’s release date.
