On the 1st October 2019 MJ Read & Co Limited joined the A4G Family to help provide a wider range of help and services and tackle the growing upheaval of tax legislation.
We have helped clients update their record keeping to be compliant for the changes in tax rules with Making Tax Digital, keeping contractors updated with changes to the construction industry VAT system and provided many other helpful items of planning such as R&D claims to help continue the great work done by Nigel Wharton.

Nigel Wharton of MJ Read & Co entered the world of accountancy by joining a 4-partner firm in London after finishing university in 1978. He soon qualified as a Chartered Accountant by 1982.
In 1991, he joined M J Read & Co as audit manager and in 2005 he acquired the practice. He has mainly acted for small and medium sized owner managed businesses and personal tax clients which gave them an opportunity to be hands on with their clients and to offer a personal service.
In recent years Nigel’s work load increased significantly with higher demands from his time as a sole practitioner, especially with the introduction of new legislation such as Auto Enrolment and Making Tax Digital. The approach from A4G came at the perfect time as it enabled Nigel to cope with the demands that Making Tax Digital in particular would have placed on the practice.
In 2019, Nigel decided to partner with A4G because not only are we a local practice with a similar approach to its clients but we have the expertise and capacity to deal with new legislation and the workload that comes with that. This enabled Nigel to step back in the autumn of 2019 and hopefully take some well-earned holidays, spend time with his family and get out on his bike and we can ensure his clients are looked after.
